We're Married!

Much has occurred since my last post asking people to vote for Shawn and me in Colin Cowie's "Wings of Love" contest...

During the second week of January 2012, we were told that we were one of the four couples who won weddings atop the Empire State Building.  AMAZING!  The next month flew by!

In that month's time, Colin Cowie's "Wings of Love" hosted three other contests to choose the following

  1. Our wedding bands from De Beers
  2. Our reception menu by Mary Giuliani Catering & Events
  3. Our flowers by Grymes Cannon Designs
We were extremely pleased with the winning choices!

Jump to February 10... we met the other winning couples at a ring fitting event at De Beers.  The other couples were so nice and the De Beers staff were very helpful.

February 13... Rehearsal.  The nerves started.  THIS IS REAL!  We had photos taken with Colin Cowie at the observation deck of the ESB.  We also met Holly Robinson Peet and Rodney Peet who presented at the ESB's Light Ceremony.  We also had pictures with them!  Facing a wall of photographers was a new experience.

February 14... Wedding Day!  It was a whirlwind of day, for sure! The limo picked us up at 8:30am.  We arrived at the ESB and immediately had our make-up and hair done.  I've never felt so pampered before! :)  We had a beautiful wedding ceremony officiated by celebrant Kim Kirkley.  Kim captured the essence of our relationship!  After the ceremony, our guests went to our reception while Shawn and I went up to the ESB's observation deck for photos.  We also had a champagne toast with Colin Cowie!  Afterwards, we went to our reception for a delicious meal by Mary Giuliani Catering & Events.  The music, food, wedding cake, and overall party theme were beyond our expectations!  Colin Cowie's wedding theme for us was "Indochine".  Sophisticated... beautiful yet masculine.  We could not have asked for or imagined anything more wonderful.

Getting married atop the ESB during the first year legalized same-sex marriage in NY was an amazing experience.  Shawn and I are very thankful for the opportunity and are extremely happy to share our day with our family and close friends.

Well, this is just a brief description of our wedding to get people caught up on the Wings of Love contest.
